A Summer Summary

Normally I would begin this post with an excuse or apology for not posting in AGES!

But I am going to take Nathan's advice, and not bother and just hope I actually still have readers. :) So this is a narrated, picture walk through of just what me and my awesome family have been up to this summer. Well, the highlights anyways! :)

We love having families out to Grandpa's ten acres for BBQ'S over the summer. So much fun to get out there enjoying yummy burgers and great fellowship, and a little target practice to boot. :)

Umm, this is me and Caleb trying to rescue the volleyball I uh, accidently hucked in the pond. Twice. *sigh*

                                                 

                                                          Daddy is a terrific BBQ-er.

I have had many opportunities for long trips in my car, both with my sisters and on my own.

These are all pictures of our vacation to Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington. It was so beautiful, and so fun!

 It was hot there, and we spent all out time in the lake, in the sun, and just generally doing nothing for a change! It was a great time spent with my wonderful family, relaxing and enjoying each other and the beautiful lake.

                                        Perfect vacation with a Starbucks just around the corner!

 Daddy rented two jet skis for us for two hours one day we were there!! We had SO much fun. Only he and I could drive since you had to have a driver's license, so he took Samantha and Bradly, and I took Ali.

 So here is where the cop story comes in.... See, the lake has "no wake zones", which are areas marked by a couple of tall buoys. it's like a slow lane marked at 2 MPH....
 On our way back to the docks after two hours of hittin' the waves, dad and I were a ways away from each other, when I looked to my right, and noticed I was a liiiitlt close to the shore, and wondered if I were in a no wake zone.

This is where the following all happened at once.

1. I see the buoy bobbing up and down in the water telling me I am indeed in a no wake zone.

2. I see dad frantically waving me down and signaling me to slow down.

3. I see a police boat speeding towards me, lights flashing, siren on.

4. Brad Paisley's song Mr. Policeman with the line "catch me if you caaaaan!!!" popped into my head.

 Yep, you guessed, I got caught speeding in a no wake zone on a jet ski. I heard Ali behind me groan an "oops", and I wondered if you could go to jail for speeding on a lake. So the boat pulls up and two sheriffs glare at me from their high seats.

Sheriff: THIS IS A NO-WAKE ZONE!!!!
Me: *wince* Yes Sir, I'm sorry Sir.
Sheriff: *glare at dumb kid ignoring my rules of slow speed* Shut it OFF!!!
Me: Yes sir! *frantically tries to remember where the off switch was*
(by the way, the only other person I refer to as "Sir" is my grandfather. But somehow, confronted with the authority of a grumpy policeman, it seemed like every other word that came out of my mouth)
Sheriff: AND DON'T HIT MY BOAT!
Ali in an undertone in ear: "pfft, we are drifting in opposite directions"
Sheriff: THIS IS A NO-WAKE ZONE!!!
Me: *wonders if donuts make me repetitive too, or just policemen...*  Yes Sir, I'm sorry Sir, I was watching (it's true, I had been, just not close enough apparently) but I spaced out for a minute and didn't watch carefully enough.
Sheriff: That's what everyone says.
Me: *wonders if this is the point were I get a ticket* Yes Sir, I will Sir, I'm sorry Sir.
Sheriff: Thank you very much. *turns and drives boat away*
Me: *Sits on jetski staring at them drive away, and wonders if donuts make them forgetful too, because I didn't get a ticket...*
Ali: Wow, we are so lucky.

 "We are so lucky"? Ya know, I have a feeling if I had gotten a ticket, it would have been more like "You are so sunk."  Anyways, I am very glad I didn't get a ticket, and after the nerves wore off, we had a good laugh over the whole thing! :)

 Canning Peaches! we brough home almost 50LBS of peaches from Eastern Washington, and mom and we girls had such fun in the kitchen canning these sweet golden fruits.

Ahh, so that pretty hits all the highlights! So I am back to teaching my 20+ students Tuesday-Friday, and loving it. Summer is wonderful, but I am also happy to be back to my schedule.
