Today is the Day that the Lord hath Made.

May the Lord's sweet hand square us, hammer us, and strike off all kinds of pride, self-love, world worship, and infidelity, so that He can make us stones and pillars in His father's house.
~Samuel Rutherford

A Favorite Luther Quote.

The church needs to rid itself of all false glories that torture scripture by inserting personal ideas into the Scripture which lend to it their own sense. No! Scripture, Scripture, Scripture!
For me, constrain, press, compell me with God's word."

~Martin Luther

Top left and right hand corners, it says in Latin,
"In silentio et spe erit fortitudo vestra" translated; "In silence and hope will be your strength" quoted from Isaiah 30:15

I'd Rather Pick Roses Without Thorns

I'd rather pick roses without thorns, Lord, a bright and fragrant, beautiful bouquet to decorate my world with pretty pleasures- the brambles and briers, I'll throw away.

But you say I must pluck the thorns as well, Lord, although they'll pierce my heart and sting my soul; You say that pain's a part of peace, you tell me that breaking is part of being whole.

You say that if I truly want to know you, I must count everything but Christ a loss;
You ask me to exchange my way for yours, Lord, to trade contentment's kingdom for a cross.

And so I come before you weak, but willing; I seek to walk your path, and not my own; I choose to share the crown of thorns you wore, Lord, until I kneel before your royal throne.

Channels Only

How I praise thee precious Saviour, that thy love laid hold of me;
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me That I might Thy channel be.
Channels only blesses Master, but with all thy wonderous power flowing thro' us,
Thou canst use us every day and every hour.

Mark Twain says...

The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not. ~M.T.

Unfortunately very true! :)

Sorry I havn't been blogging lately, I've been busy reading the driver's book, and then proceeding to flunk my first driver's test by one question, and studing to take it again later this week! (bleh.)

Hope you're all havin' a blessed Lord's day!

Be Strong!

Be strong! We are not here to play, to dream, to drift; we have hard work to do and loads to lift. Shun not the struggle; face it. It's God's gift.

Be strong! Say not the days are evil - who's to blame? Or fold your hands as in defeat - O shame!
Stand up, speak out, and bravely, in God's name.

Be strong! It matters not how deep entrenched the wrong, How hard the battle goes, the day how long. Faint not! Fight on! Tomorrow comes the song.

How Firm a Foundation

Verse 1.
How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in his excellent word! What more can he say than to you he hath said, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

Verse 4. (my favorite)

"When thro' fiery thy pathway shall lie, My grace a sufficient shall be thy supply. The flames shall not hurt thee I only design, thy dross to consume, and the gold to refine.

A Second Amendment Quote.

A strong body makes a strong mind. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it also gives boldness, enterprise, and independance to the mind... Let your gun therefore, be the constant companion of you walks.

~Thomas Jefferson

I want it to be said of me by those who knew me best, that I always plucked a thistle, and planted a flower, where I thought a flower would grow.
